The Rushmore 50 is the widest single-sided fireplace in Empire's luxury line — over four feet of clean-face TruFlame fire, framed into the wall like architecture. Tall, realistic flames rise over a glowing ember bed across the full width; sealed direct-vent combustion keeps indoor air untouched, and the multifunction remote runs it all, including Smart Thermostat flame modulation.

What's the difference between this and the Rushmore inserts?
This is the built-in fireplace — it frames into a wall in new construction or a remodel. The inserts slide into an existing wood-burning fireplace. Same TruFlame system, different installation.
What does the Smart Thermostat mode do?
Instead of switching the fire on and off like a conventional thermostat, Smart mode modulates the flame height down as the room approaches your set temperature — steadier heat and a fire that's always burning at the right size.
Does it need a chimney?
Not a traditional one — it's a direct-vent system that vents through an approved pipe run to the outside (through-wall or vertical). The venting components are configured to your installation and sold separately.
How do I choose natural gas vs propane?
Select the variant matching your home's gas supply — the fireplace ships configured for the fuel you order.
Can I customize the look?
Yes — Empire offers interior liner styles, forged iron fronts and insets, and log set options for the Rushmore line, all sold separately.
